Grow Cheshunt is an environmental community group.

We  wish to share our understanding of the need for individual and combined responsibility for the local and wider environment.

We recognise that one person engaging with environmental issue's can make a difference, but many together can have a huge impact and change attitudes for the benefit of our society and the environment.

Our allotment will progress with us throughout the year. A space to socialise, bring friends, work the land, grow fresh food, share skills, ideas and relax!

We hope you can join us in making change in Cheshunt and Broxbourne Borough by sharing skills and exchanging ideas for a more sustainable , creative and involved place to live.

We will be holding events throughout the year, celebrating Broxbourne's Year of the Environment.

Why Grow?

There comes a point in life when you either accept what's been handed to you...or you do something about it.

It's that moment where the stress and torment of things you can't control become obsolete you are more than just the... 'So what do you do then' or the 'when are you getting married'...More than what’s expected... It’s still you and you can be all these things....but your conscience has a wider appreciation of life and how everything is working around you and how maybe.. just maybe..... YOU CAN CHANGE IT...

Its a 'EUREKA' moment which causes you to question why you've been doing what you’re doing....

For some people it's getting out of a relationship, a bad family environment, a job they hate, a situation that they can't stand: Or just admitting to yourself, that you have been the one holding yourself back and it's time to let go.

It's time to not care what that person says, to no longer be shackled by negativity.

You realise how much you earn, and what you have, does not define you.
You have far more potential than accumulating material things, and you are in control.Who or what you're going to be for the rest of your life really isn't a worry...

It's a moment when nothing matters except the people you love, your morals, your beliefs and your mind. But it's not just you who matters any more, it's the family you left behind or the place you grew up or the realisation that politics and government and media and money control the social norms..... but WE control our path.... and these people, these 'people with power' they can't control the choices we make.

Grow Cheshunt is an epiphany of many moments, a culmination of a number of years for a number of people, conversations and planet saving talks- changes in attitude and responsibility.

Grow Cheshunt is a kinder, simpler way to promote environment, health, happiness and community.Grow Cheshunt comes from a place of love, passion and appreciation.A place of love for our home town, and its people, and how we should respect both.

It's our responsibility to look after the natural world and each other.

There are things we can't control right now.
We don't want to forget or ignore what is happening around us....however we do want you and everyone around you to live in harmony and strive for something more than the expected.. which in turn will change the world around us.

We can't ignore the fact that many people are living in difficulty right now. We can't deny that we all have to make money to get by and that time is a problem.......But we can choose to make positive change, in whatever way possible.

This year is the Year of Environment within the Borough of Broxbourne.
We want the year to be recognised as such, and for the recognition to continue into daily life, and into habit.

In doing so, we're looking to support and connect with any other groups and events in the area, social, environmental or otherwise.

We believe that respecting our natural environment and building community come hand in and.We can build spaces for growing food as well as growing community spirit.

We're here now. And we'll be here for a while..If now isn't the right time then when will be?
Let's do this together...
Grow Food. Grow Community. Grow Cheshunt.
stay tuned!

Story is standing up for Grow Comedy........!!

Crow:  'Ok Story so what's this about you standing-up for Comedy?'

Story: 'Well I'm no comedian (lol) but Sam who is (no joke!), suggested I give it a go and here I am...ready to giggle at the gig...!!'

C: 'Hmmmnn, intense, but what drives a sophisticated frog from West Cheshunt to come East to the OEG PH on the 3rd Thursday of each month to catch wonderfully free Comedy.....?!'

S: 'Well I've just met a girl named Maria(who has a Ford Fiesta obvs!) and suddenly my life will never be the same....!'

C:'Why so Story, or,ha,should I call you 'Westside!?' S:'No, don't make me laugh, please... no it was Phineas and I spent most of my time in a Wardrobe, but now I am appearing weekly at the Spotlight, Tesco Brookfield, the Chateau Cafe.....it's tough, but somebody has to do it (Maria usually if I am honest!!!!)'

C: 'Oh, so is the Comedy light relief..?'

S: You could say that-in fact you have-but no it's just something I've always wanted to do since I was a tadpole fishing around for things to do (and eat!)...and I would recommend anyone to get along to the OEG PH ( and The Mixer too )and Stand Up for Comedy!!

C: 'Aaarkk right!'

How To Make Your Own Gel Air Fresheners With Essential Oils (Tue, 13 Aug 2019)
We’d probably all like to have a nicely scented home, but is it really worth sacrificing our good health, and the health of our planet? Most people probably don’t think twice about using air fresheners, plugging them in and enjoying a “Summer Breeze”, without the understanding that it could be damaging their health, not to mention the health of one’s family, including unborn children and… [read more] The post How To Make Your Own Gel Air Fresheners With Essential Oils appeared first on Natural Living Ideas.

Appearing 7.30pm Tues 5th-Fri 8th June 2018 at the Landor Space 70 Landor Road Clapham SW9 9PH

"Gleeful absurdity...it has to been" **** Buzz Magazine

"Appealing grubby anarchy" - The Swindonian

Winner of Best Original Piece at Swindon Fringe Festival 2017

Pembrokeshire-based oddballs Fire Donkey blur the lines between fiction and reality in their surreal genre-bending cult recruitment seminar thinly disguised as a caravan holiday park presentation. Coming to the Landor Space in Clapham for four nights only! 5-8th June!

Tickets available soon!

Fire Donkey Productions bring you an absurd multimedia comedy experience about a cult that lives on a caravan park in Wales. Church of Phil is an anarchic Spam and Smash-fuelled presentation in the same vein as The Mighty Boosh and The Play That Goes Wrong, delivered in the style of a recruitment seminar for a new-age cult that worship the former child star of a 90's pharmaceutical advert.

On the face of it the Church is offering a fresh start for broken minds to heal in a loving community in the quaint Welsh countryside, but beneath the perma-grinning surface there is a dark truth that, like any powerful institution, they'd rather was kept secret.

Polly and Liam appear to have got themselves caught up in this “cultural spiritual movement” and lead the audience on an immersive and surreal journey of enlightenment, featuring dances, retro slide show presentations, puppetry, appearances from an eclectic cast of guest speakers, and just enough blood sacrifice to keep it on the right side of tasteful.

Reviews

Buzz Magazine ****

“The Church of Phil Recruitment Seminar was...unlike anything I had ever seen. From the dated PowerPoint presentation with its garish word art titles, sound effects and ‘accidental’ subliminal messages, to the welcome song sung by two perma-grinning recruiters, through to the special guest speakers who have been saved by Phil, this was a show full of gleeful absurdity and unabashed silliness...I’ll be honest, my words can’t do this show justice. It has to be seen. It is fringe entertainment at its purest, with a very DIY feel that makes it feel far more real than if it had had the polish of a larger theatre company. If you like to laugh, this is for you.”

The Swindonian

“...As for the play itself? God almighty, I don’t know. I know it happened, but I’m still not sure what happened. I’m not entirely sure I can offer a coherent synopsis. You’d probably think I’d suffered a head injury or been out in the woods, under the influence of a full moon, eating magical mushrooms straight from the loam...
Would you believe that this was a recruitment seminar for “progressive spiritual movement” (definitely not a death cult, 300 members worldwide, only three blood sacrifices to date) built around Phil, the youthful face of Kool ’n’ Sooth, a popular migraine treatment towel of the early 80’s?
See? I told you it would sound insane! And that’s me glossing over a psychotic monkey, a talking banana and ‘Barry the Beast’ who gets speared to death by members of the audience.”

Sunday PM Bike Ride Postponed UFN or the fortunate tale of a biking princess that turned into a (story)frog!

What happened? Well Grow Cheshunt's own cycling instructor and pedal pusher Maria had a heavy fall which postponed our cycle plans. Maria recovered thankfully, but all thoughts of a regular Sunday cycle went up in a phonic puff as Maria also fell into a teaching franchise called The Story Frog https://www.thestoryfrogphonics.com/cheshunt

So we wish Maria well...and btw Stan can you takeover? What-u were knocked off yours??...OMG-Anybody else?!!!
